Corner baths are great space savers but they’re also great at filling up some of the floor space in an over large bathroom; they give you the best of both worlds really. However, nothing is perfect, so what’s the downside of choosing a corner bathroom suite?

The first problem that springs to mind is the lack of room to lie down! Corner baths tend to offer a lot of width but not much length, a problem that is magnified in the smaller models. If you have long legs, you can kiss goodbye to those long hot soaks you so enjoy!

A secondary problem is water. Our water bills nowadays are going up month by month it seems and a corner bath will add to that household expense. The average standard rectangular bath needs 155 litres for a standard fill where as a corner bath needs an unbelievable 210 litres that may not sound like much of a difference but if you add this up over the year and multiply that by the amount you pay per unit of water it may give you a surprising result and that doesn’t allow for the additional energy required to heat all that water.

A popular choice instead of the standard corner bath is the offset corner bath. The offset bath fits into the corner but has one side that is longer, these come in both right and left hand designs to fit all bathrooms, so what ever you do make sure you know which is needed before purchase!

With the offset suite having one side that is longer it will mean that you can stretch out and relax in the bath as well as have a bath that looks the business. These offset baths will still use more water that a standard bath but it will be considerably less that a conventional corner bath.

If you do decide on the corner bath suite and lets face it they just look great when installed, you will need to consider whether it needs to be offset. The corner bath panel is not a universal, they are designed to fit only the one model of bath so although you will not need it straight away I would always advise buying an additional facia panel and hiding it in the loft, there will I am sure become a day when the plastic or wood gets a know and cracks it. These baths after a few years can sometimes get replaced and updated so can be hard to come by new panels for your corner suite.
